Even I
I stood once on a tired hillsurveying the land around meAnd no matter which way I looknothingness surrounds meFor everything I once held dearcrumbles away to dustThe sky, she burnsThe grass, it fadesMy heart is not contentbut do I expect too much? All things change andwithout change is deathTime is the thing to treasureFor time passes all things, even I.Labels: Poetry
Soft to the Touch
I was walking today, out among the dunesI had overlooked them for so long, but today I noticed that they were greenand plush and soft to the touchI took off my shoes and rubbed my toes in the grasswhile the birds passed byThe sky was blue, the clouds puffyI had always assumed them monochrome and lumpywhy is today differentand so nice and everything soft to the touchI laid down and closed my eyes against the glowwhile the sun passed overheadAnd then it happened, there in a dreamThe things I had never noticed were obviousso now I see lifeand all of its beauty is soft to the touchI wanted to keep my eyes closed and watchwhile my dreams passed onLabels: Poetry
On the Other Side of the Mirror
When passing through town caught mirror reflectsWith shoulder-fallen hair as liquid goldDetermin-ed eyes and set of mouth boldToo young to be me, and yet those aspectsFell away t'ward illogic with the prospectsOf them showing me the life that is stowedAway deep, waiting to become centerfoldAnd prominent, now and then recollects.Compelled and in the mirror beheldThe old beauty that was one manifoldBeauty that was florid, fluid, vividMay this my aspiring vision upheldSo to make my self that is now languidA hybrid of now and then, less putid.Labels: Poetry
